OCTOBER 4, 2012 – DAY 28

SAT’S:   Any student taking the SAT this Saturday, Oct. 6 needs to report to school by 7:45.

GRAPHIC DESIGN:  Mrs. Marzano and the Graphic Design class would like to thank those who purchased a spirit week shirt.  Shirts will be delivered during homeroom today.  Small sizes are on back order and will be delivered on Monday.  If you prepaid and did not receive a shirt or would like to order one, please see Mrs. Marzano in room 125 today.

CONGRATULATIONS:  to Luke Wallace for placing 21st in the WPIAL Golf Championships. 

ATTENTION RAIDERS!!!  We need to get ready to roast the Mustangs!  Come to the Bonfire on Wednesday Oct. 24th.  There will be powder-puff football, a hot dog eating contest, tug of war and more!  Tickets are $5.00, Bonfire t-shirts are $10.00.  Tickets will be on sale in the cafeteria until October 12th.

There will be a Senior Post Prom parent meeting Wednesday, October 10th at 5:30 in the cafeteria. 

Any boys’ soccer team player who will not be at practice tonight MUST see Mr. Yauger before the end of school today.

STUDENTS:  The hometown high Q team will be traveling to KDKA – TV studios on Saturday, Sept. 13 for a taping of Westfield Insurance Hometown High Q.  If you would like to attend the taping and cheer your team on to victory, sign up in room 301 to ride the bus to the studio with the team.  Space is limited.  For more information and permission slips, see Mrs. Vaccaro in room 301.

STUDENTS & STAFF:  The Soles 4 Souls charity collects new and gently used shoes for people in need all over the world.  All types of shoes are acceptable and there is a drop off bin in the lunch room.  Please see Katie Burgess for any questions.

STUDENTS:  The Anatomy classes are looking for deer hearts.  If you hunt, or know someone who hunts, we would appreciate deer heart donations.  Please see Mrs. Piccolomini or Mrs. Gadd.

VOLLEYBALL:  Congratulations to the girls volleyball team with non-section win over Southmoreland.  Good luck to the team with a section  match at McGuffey tonight.  The girls should be at the school at 4:15.  Go Raiders!

STUDENTS:  If you haven’t already turned in a lunch application, you MUST do so by Friday, Oct. 5th.  If not received in the cafeteria by that date, there will be a delay in your lunch status, at which time charges may be adding to your account.  You will be responsible to pay the charges until a new application is processed.

STUDENTS:  Any gifted support student or junior or senior student interested in pursuing a career in medicine sign up for the field trip to Allegheny General Hospital to observe open heart surgery.  Space for this field trip is limited and will be filled on a first come basis.  See Mrs. Vaccaro in room 301 to sign up and to get permission slips.

AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING:  Students staying for tutoring, report to room 506 at 2:45

SOPHOMORE’S:  Support your class “31 purse party” Thursday in our cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. – come see the purses and accessories for sale – Individual orders will be taken through Oct. 25th – specials involved.

SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS & SENIORS:  The Balfour Representative will be at school to take class ring orders the following date and times:

  • Thursday, Oct. 4th during all lunch periods and from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.  A $60.00 deposit is required and payment plans are available.  Additional packets are available in the office.  Don’t miss out on a Uniontown Tradition!

JUNIORS:  We are selling Sarris pretzels again and need you to help.  Students willing to sell please see Mrs. Crothers in room 310.  Top seller will receive a $50.00 gift card.

JUNIOR CLASS:  Junior class t-shirts will be on sale during A & B lunch Oct. 1st thru Oct. 5.  The cost is $10.00.  Don’t be the only one without one.

PSAT:  Students taking the PSAT on Oct. 20th please turn in your payment of $16.00 to Mrs. Baker by Oct. 5th.  If you think you qualify for a fee waiver, see Mrs. Baker ASAP.  Anyone who has not paid by Oct. 5 will not be able to take the test.

BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS:  Big brothers/big sisters needs your help to mentor elementary students at Lafayette School.  This is a great opportunity to help a child and earn community service time.  If you would like to volunteer, see Mrs. Golden in the guidance office.  Please turn applications in to the guidance office by October 4th.

FBLA MEMBERS:  Please see Mrs. Hough in room 126 to pick up the Yum Yum Bakery fundraiser forms.  Orders and money will be due Monday, Oct. 22nd.

SADD:  Any student planning to join the SADD Club who is interested in participating in the Red Ribbon Walk is to see Mrs. Caromano for an application.  Student discounts are available until Oct. 10th.
