“Lincoln“- Directed by Steven Spielburg
Cast: Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln, Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln
Plot: Lincoln recounts president Abraham Lincoln’s efforts, during January 1865, to convince the United States House of Representatives to pass the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution that would formally abolish slavery in the country.
Review: Lincoln creates a portrayal of the enigma that was Abraham Lincoln. As the movie demonstrates, Lincoln was not a shaper of events, but events allowed him to shape the nation. This is a superb movie in all respects: acting, directing, and writing. Daniel Day-Lewis conveys the facts of the man and gives us a portrait rather than an impersonation. Personally if I had to say one negative thing about the movie it was that i expected the movie to be astonishing because Steven Spielburg was the director but I think it was just one of his average films.
