September National Awareness Month

In September we raise a lot of Awareness to different diseases and health conditions. For example fighting against Childhood Cancer. Out of ever 100,000 children ages younger than 15 years old, 17.8% receive a cancer diagnosis. Childhood cancer has been slightly rising over the past couple decades. In support of those children and their families wear gold any time in the month of September.

Another Awareness in September is PCOS. What exactly is PCOS? It’s a common health problem that can affect teen girls and young women. Doctors can’t say for sure what it is but it seems too related to an imbalance in a girl’s hormone count. Ways to help is maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise. Wear teal to support the women that goes through this daily.

World Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness is also in September. Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions. Sadly, it is very common with more than 3 million cases per year in the U.S. Treatment can help but no cure has been found. Wear purple to show support for those with Alzheimers and their families.

These are all good examples of different awarenesses to support and be apart of. You can simply do it by just wearing the awareness color. These are just a few of September Awarenesses, and there are many more that could use all of our support.
