Lafayette Student Council participated in a project to send valentines to kids at St. Jude’s Hospital. Those members of Lafayette’s Student Council were working on a project to send virtual valentine cards to children at St. Jude’s Hospital. A side benefit to bringing smiles to the children is we can put one on our own faces at the same time.
A couple of our students saw this and immediately wanted to participate. We asked those students how they heard about the donation, if they were happy or proud that they donated, and what prompted them to donate. One student who answered, Brooklyn Williams, found out about the donation through social media. She continued, Nothing really prompted me to donate, I was happy to help kids even though I couldn’t donate money.” She also shared where and how to donate on her personal social media platforms.
Another student, Alexandra Cardenas, admitted that she was happy to donate because she knows it will help make someone’s day better and brighter, and that she loves the idea of making people happy especially those in need. She went on to say, “I just love doing things that make others happy, and knowing that my card gets to one of those children because I hope that they know they are very loved and cared about even by people they don’t even know.”
