The boys Uniontown Swim team is ready for the 2012-2013 season. They are coached by new head coach, Sarah Howarth. She is new to coaching Uniontown but not new to swimming. The boys are looking to improve from last year’s record of 4 wins and 9 losses. We asked the coach and a few returning veterans some questions for their upcoming season.
We asked what do you look to improve on from last year, and senior Nathan Hager said, “I would like to have better technique and faster times.” Concerning the coaching change, Hager exclaimed that he is “mostly worried because coaching can make or break a team, but I’m trying to look positively.”
Head coach Sarah Howarth is well qualified for her position. “I have been a swimmer for over 13 years as well as teaching classes at the YMCA. Also I’m certified in life guarding, ” explained Miss Howarth. She has high hopes for this season, predicting “To have multiple qualifiers for WPIALs, possibly even states. Also to end the season with a positive record.”
