Teacher Insider: Mr. Wilson

As a child did you always want to be a teacher?
No, definitely not. Teaching was not a childhood dream, but I did assume it had something to do with music.

What do you teach, and is there a different subject you’d like to teach?
I teach all kinds of music , instrumental, choral, and general. I would teach some sort of history, I enjoy it, and believe it is important. There are certain aspects of history we learn about.

What is your favorite activity to do outside of school?
I like being musically involved such as performing, playing, and working with theatre.

If teaching was not an option, what profession would you go into?
I would try to perform and make a living as a pianist or music director.

Which class do you enjoy teaching the most?
I really, really, do like band, but I enjoy teaching musical theatre the most.

Where did you receive your education from?
West Virginia University.

What is something most students do not know about you?
I don’t know, I’m pretty open about things. I was an ornery kid in high school, kind of a problem kid,

Do you have any advice for students?
Be yourself, it’s generic but it’s true. People spend high school trying to be someone else, but you should stick to being yourself.
