Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving as everyone knows is all about the food… WRONG. The reason we celebrate thanksgiving in the United States is a huge part of history. Most families will gather around the able on this very day Thursday, November 25th 2021, and celebrate all they have to be thankful for. Some will be thankful for having a roof over their head, military family members, friends, food etc. But where would we be if we didn’t have this huge historical event?

Well as everyone knows 1621 harvest shared with the pilgrims of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people. It all started with the pilgrims out hunting, then some of the people from Wampanoag showed up. All of them have joined to sit down and have a dinner, and try to understand some broken English. As they sat, they celebrated the military benefits. As it continued through out the years, some have changed it to celebrating the end of the wars. The dinner started off with some turkeys the pilgrims had hunted, and they finished it with mashed potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie etc.

Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks. Most family’s will do a holiday tradition and also do as they did back in the 1600. Many family’s now in days are more thankful over things such as religion, or the celebration of life. So if the pilgrims would have never had dinner with the Wampanoag, do you think we would have a holiday to be thankful for?
