September 10, 2022 marked Uniontown cross country teams first time participating in the Red, White, and Blue Invitational at White Oak Park. They had separate races for JV girls and boys, Freshman, and varsity girls and boys. The varsity girls placed, getting 3rd place with 100 points. While the boys varsity team unfortunately did not place in the top 3, still tied for 4th place with 136 points with North Catholic. Meanwhile the JV girls placed 8th, Freshmen girls 9th. Overall the team had a very successful first time attending this Invitational.
The top 25 finishers of each race were recognized and given a running shirt to mark the occasion. Uniontown’s varsity girls Hope Trimmer, Lydia Stanton and Emily Angelo finished in 2nd, 19th, and 24th place. The varsity boys who placed were Mason Stewart, Tanner Uphold, and Leyton Maust at 7th, 20th and 25th place. Also in the boys freshman race, Ethan Syner got 13th place.
The common consensus of all the runners, newer along with the more experienced, was that it was a quick course that gave many members new personal records for the season. So far the California, and Red, white and blue invitational, along with the scrimmage against Waynesburgh have shown promising results for the 2022 cross country team. On September 15, 2022 the section meets begin, hopefully the previous meets are foreshadowing a successful season for the team.
