Uniontown Cross Country Season Begins

As school starts and fall comes rapidly around the corner, our high school fall sports have begun. Our cross country team has been training all summer in preparation for the beginning of the season. On the team this year there is a lot of freshman as well as 18 athletes graduating. “We have been preparing all summer for this”, said freshman Arrington Scott. Proving that Uniontown girls taking home a trophy placed 3rd overall at the Cal U invitational. Crossing the finish line first was Hope Trimmer. In addition Zaya Mccune(22nd), Lydia Stanton(18th) Grace Trimmer(21) all finished in the top 25. ” It was super exciting to start off the season with a win at a big meet, senior runner Hope Trimmer said,”I worked very hard over the summer and ran almost 500 miles for this”

The UHS boys also competed and took 4th. It was neck and neck until the final mile when the raiders fell short of placing 3rd. Finishing in 6th was Mason Stewart. Also adding to the boys score was Tanner Uphold finishing in 23rd. When asked about summer conditioning coach Joe Foster replied with,” We had a lot of kids that ran over 300 miles in preparation for the season, all the early work is going to pay off.” The team has a lot of talented athletic runners so the UHS Cross Country motto is “Why Not Us”

Upcoming for the red raiders is the Red/white blue invitationals.
