On September 20, 2022, Uniontown’s cross country team went against Elizabeth Forward and Thomas Jefferson for their second section meet of the season, at Elizabeth Forwards home course at Round Hill Park. Uniontown girls swept the competition, beating Thomas Jefferson by 29 points and Elizabeth Forward by 35. The boys team won by 9 points against Elizabeth Forward and by 35 points against Thomas Jefferson. This leaves both the girls and boys teams undefeated, and on the road to winning the section again.
Hope Trimmer was the overall winner for the girls race with the time 19:33. Lydia Stanton and Zaya McCune were at second and third place for individuals. While an Elizabeth Forward runner was the individual winner of the the boys race, Mason Stewart still took second place with the time 16:21 and Tanner Uphold took third.
This course was a challenge for many of the runners. Despite being slightly under a 5k, it still had its challenges, one being a hill that goes on for a half mile. Still the team prevailed and defeated their competition. Hopes for winning the section, and possibly even going to states, are running high due to the strength the team has shown this season.
