ASL stands for American Sign Language. Sign language is known in many different places and there are a variety of different languages in it. In fact, there’s over 135 different languages with signs, including American Sign Language, British Sign Language and even Australian Sign Language.
Signs differ from place to place though. Like any language there’s different signs for the same words. It’s sad they don’t offer this language in schools around here, but there is a good website to learn American Sign language known as andspeak.com/” target=”_blank”>HandSpeak.com where you can search for a word and it’ll show you how to sign it with a video.
Sign Language is how the deaf communicate, and it’s a good thing to know. This language was created and established all the way back in 1817 by Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet the founder of the first Deaf school.
