Jake was a student here at Uniontown Area High School and participated in cross country, track and field, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. After he graduated in 2014, he moved to Morgantown and took a gap year before college. He attended West Virginia University and majored in speech pathology & audiology. During his sophomore year, he became an RA for his dorm. He graduated from WVU with his Master’s Degree in May of 2021.
Recently, he has accepted an outpatient position with WVU medicine at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He says, “Clinically, this position is my dream job as I work with patients with varying speech, language, and swallowing impairments resulting from cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, stroke, and other conditions”. He even works with Lou Gehrig’s disease patients and helps them relearn how to speak and swallow.
In his free time, Jake enjoys running, hiking, and tennis. He is thankful for his high school cross country coach, Joe Everhart, for introducing him to his love of running. He is also looking forward to getting married this summer! He lives in Morgantown with his fiance, their dog, and two cats. Jake thanks his friends and family for supporting him throughout his journey.
